HBP canon-divergence. Harry chooses to pick a side when Ron and Hermione have their major fallout in their sixth year at Hogwarts. Standing with Hermione has consequences, but being at her side and being a loyal, supporting friend brings him a precious prize as a result. Something more than friendship.

In a single night, all hopes fell on the shoulders of a teenage wizard. Despite the few who assembled to protect Harry Potter, they were outnumbered. As a result, they could do nothing to help Harry as he was captured and brought to Malfoy Manor. Alone and behind enemy lines, Harry clings to life as to keep him alive for unknown reasons.

When Dolores Umbridge exposes the existence of Dumbledore's Army, she and Fudge don't settle with letting Harry go unpunished. Dumbledore evades arrest but Harry isn't as lucky. Charged with sedition, Harry works with allies old and new to clear his name before Voldemort can use his situation to his advantage. His enemies learn soon that Gryffindors don't back down from a fight.

As if Harry needed another surprise from Fate. As it turns out, his cousin, Dudley, has an unsurprising entrance to the magical world aside from Harry. No one could expect that it came from his fiancee... who also happens to be the cousin to Hermione Granger. Maybe the happy coincidence can make two stubborn people see the obvious.

AU OOTP. Escaping the Death Eaters at the Department of Mysteries takes a different turn. Harry will do anything to protect his friends from his folly but just how far will he go? The trio becomes a duo when Ron leaves after The Argument. Lost and stranded, Harry and Hermione make do with what little they have. While together behind canvas walls during a very cold winter, the need for warmth, comfort and hope turns their friendship into something more. On the run, desperate, and trying to complete an impossible mission, they look to each other.

AU/DH. The alternate story continues from where Harry, Ron and Hermione infiltrated the Ministry. Only Harry is arrested and detained by his enemies. He endures a lot of hardship while his allies work on getting him out. After a lot of explosives and a lot of luck (and magic), Harry is rescued but finds chains tighter than those he wore in captivity. The chains of responsibility.
