Or "Sam Carter, Fighter Pilot." Set in (or over) Iraq, 2003. (Slight AU b/c Carter was a Persian Gulf War veteran in the show, not Iraq 03 but there wasn't much difference for the pilots). This is a 'little' thing I've been working on to break writer's block on my other stories, although it's not so little anymore. Enjoy! Longer author's note for readers of my other stories inside.

Spin-off AU of Per Ardua Ad Astra. Harry lost his magic and became a soldier. Ziva lost her sister and became a spy. Theirs is an unlikely bond, a friendship forged in fire, blood and loss that endures despite divergent commitments to duty, country and agency. AU. Abducted by Loki, rescued by Thor, Harry grows up fast in a much wider universe than he ever imagined existed. Trained extensively by the Asgard, he is now ready to set his own course in life. The Goa'uld need to be dealt with, and he has questions concerning his own past and powers - the answers to which will only be found on Earth, at Hogwarts ... whatever the hell that is.

AU Harry pays a high price for booting Voldemort out of his mind at the end of OotP - he is stripped of his magic, but gains something ... other. He starts a new life in the non-magical world, and adapts his skills to join the RAF and later 'The Regiment'. He is assigned to the Atlantis Expedition and, through overcoming adversity, will find a new home and family amongst the stars.
