If Fred and George Weasley were well-known for anything, it was for their pranks which caused explosions. That's why, George thought as he screamed and sobbed on the chest of his other half at the Battle of Hogwarts, it was so tragically ironic that it was an explosion that had ended Fred's life.

"Georgie, I'm never leaving you again," Percy said softly through his sobs as he hugged his broken little brother close to him. "Never." As Percy holds a sobbing George in his arms after the final battle, he is smothered in guilt. He knows his family forgives him, but he doesn't think he can ever forgive himself.

Sirius looked the other man directly in the eye and said with no fear, "No. I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying with Harry. I'm never leaving him again." From that point on, everything changed. A missing moment after the final battle. "Ron, we're going to get through this," Hermione whispered as she held him close to her, stroking his hair. "We're going to make it, I promise. I'm staying right here with you." And through the burden of grief he carried, Ron knew they were going to be okay.

Harry held Ginny's hand and smiled, staring up at the blue sky with its white, fluffy clouds, and felt extremely content. A missing moment from HBP, which describes one of Harry and Ginny's conversations by the lake.

As soon as the guard pushed him roughly into his cell, as soon as the door slammed with awful finality, Sirius Black knew he was in Hell. The gnawing agony inside him would never lessen, the clawing, chilling emptiness would never recede.

"Following the orders of an incompetent old fool who doesn't know the difference between a friend and an enemy means more to you than your best friend who had to watch a student die. AU. As Cedric sat in his seat, looking at all the people attending Harry's funeral, he felt guilt squeeze his heart. That killing curse was meant for me, he thought, tears prickling his eyes. Not you. AU aftermath of the third task.

AU, in which Harry lost his life at the end of first year. "Never mind, Petunia," Vernon said gruffly, laying his hand on her shoulder in a would-be reassuring manner. "Maybe now, those freaks will leave us alone, and things can go back to normal." But Petunia Dursley knew that things could never be the same again.

Harry Potter had really done it now. The boy was nothing but an arrogant, ignorant, selfish little brat who didn't deserve to be on the planet. He had gambled his mother's sacrifice, the sacrifice of the only woman Snape had ever loved, for nothing but a romp in Hogsmeade and a pathetic bag of sweets.

AU. "Oh Ronnie, baby, I'm so, so sorry," Molly whispered, cradling her young, sobbing son to her. She couldn't tell him that everything would be all right, that it was just a nightmare, because it wasn't. All she could do was hold him and try to soothe a broken heart. What if Harry hadn't survived his fight at the end of first year?

AU, set at the end of first year. Where was Severus supposed to go from here? What was he supposed to do now, when the last link to his Lily was gone for good? How could he go on when there was no more of her precious memory to protect?

AU. What if Harry hadn't survived first year? Deep in the bowels of the school, in the Slytherin common room, Draco Malfoy acts cheerful and exhilarated on the outside. But what is really going on inside his mind? Yesterday Harry Potter had been here to hate, to insult, to mock. But now he wasn't, and everything had changed.

AU in which Harry didn't survive first year. The morning after his death, Percy goes to visit Ron in the hospital wing. All he wanted was the best for him, and now, his innocence had been completely lost in the course of one night. A look at Percy in a more sympathetic light.

AU. "I'm afraid," said Professor McGonagall in a voice that was trembling terribly, "That Harry Potter is no longer with us." And with that, she fled the hall, not being able to face the students anymore. Neville sat rooted to the spot, his entire body going numb. He was an insult to his parents' memory; he had killed Harry Potter.

Sirius and Remus take Harry away from his abusive relatives. Under their care, he finds out what it is like to be loved unconditionally. All three learn from each other, and discover the true power of family. R/Hr, H/G.

"He's not James, Sirius!" Molly Weasley's shriek echoed over and over again in his mind, anger and sorrow roiling in his gut. The words only sought to remind him how spectacularly he had failed to keep those closest to his heart safe.

AU. "Harry, what does she make you do?" Sirius asked in a barely controlled voice. "How does she make you write it?" A powerful moment between godfather and godson when Sirius asks Harry about the detentions he's had with Umbridge.

"Black is on the loose!" Snape roared, losing control for the first time in a long, long while. "And Lupin will abet his crimes just like he did in school! Thank you very much, Headmaster, for proving once again that the house of Slytherin means nothing to you. Your blessed crop of Gryffindor bullies can do no wrong!"

"You never cared about her, so don't pretend you do now!" Aberforth screamed, and with that, he swung his arm back and punched his brother right in the face. Albus fell to the ground, blood spurting from his broken nose. And Aberforth, his world having collapsed all around him, ran from the cemetery, unable to look back. My take on the funeral of Ariana Dumbledore.

"I do," Lily said softly, a world of love in her enchanting, beautiful emerald eyes. And with that, the last shred of hope Severus Snape had was destroyed. She had done it. Lily had done it. The love of his life had married his worst enemy.

And there they were. Lily's eyes, Lily's beautiful, mesmerizing emerald green eyes on the wrong face. The face that had filled his school days with nightmares, the face that had smiled in glee as he took the one thing in this whole miserable world that Severus Snape had ever loved. Harry Potter had no right to have those eyes; they belonged to Lily and only Lily.

"I know this does not sound very consoling to you, child," Dumbledore said softly, Cho's face still buried in his robes. "But he is always with you. He would want you to move on." After Cho's disastrous date with Harry on Valentine's Day, she seeks out the only person left who she thinks might understand her pain.

"Harry, you are the one beacon of hope I have in this dark world," Sirius said softly. "Ever since I escaped Azkaban, you are all that has been keeping me going." Sirius and Harry talk after they both see the boggart posing as a dead Harry in 12, Grimmauld Place.

"I swear, even if it's the last thing I do," Sirius said determinedly, "I will make sure Harry knows just how much his parents loved him, and just how much they loved each other." A conversation between Sirius and Remus after their discussion with Harry in the fire in OotP.

"I may not be your mother, Harry, and I would never do anything to replace her in your heart. But I love you, darling, and I always will." A moment between Harry and Molly Weasley, set at the end of Goblet of Fire.

He knows his best friend, his brother, will never smile at him, make mischief, or reminisce with him ever again. His beautiful life was snuffed out by the flick of a madman's wand. And the girl his best friend had loved lies lifeless on the floor, her emerald eyes dull and unseeing. If it's the last thing he does, he will take the life of that stinking, traitorous rat.

Four times Sirius Black was able to escape his fate and one time he wasn't. Strangely enough, though, the time he could not escape was the time he was set free.

Before Harry got himself together and decided that Sirius wouldn't want him to give up hope, he experienced bitter thoughts in his hours of stewing at the Dursleys. Here is a snapshot of one of his worst days that summer.

AU. Ron and Hermione's minds wandered back to all the life-threatening adventures they'd been on with Harry. Now, they thought with breaking hearts, he is alone for this fight. And there was nothing they could do about it.

"I'm sorry, child," Dumbledore whispered as Harry's body was lowered into the ground. "I know you tried your best, and I couldn't be prouder of you. Wherever you are, my child, never think you failed."

Bellatrix pointed her wand at Ginny, who lay helplessly on the ground. "You can't fight us now, can you, ickle baby girl?" she mocked, the smirk on her face widening. "Do you love Potter enough to endure this? Crucio!" And then, Ginny's body was on fire.

Be brave, Ginny told herself as she and Harry stood in Moaning myrtle's bathroom. Be strong. You need to do this. Almost a year after the war, there's still a demon Ginny feels she needs to face. With Harry by her side, she revisits the Chamber of Secrets.

What happened in the Hufflepuff common room the night Cedric Diggory was taken from them? There's devastation, tears, anger ... but also determination. They will find out what happened to their loyal, honest champion, and make sure that it never, ever happens again.

Done as an exercise, to attempt to write about my absolute least favorite pairing! A drabble on the unusual relationship between George and Angelina. Warning: This isn't healthy!

A story of wistfulness and nostalgia as Sirius Black sits in the Forbidden Forest, reminiscing about the days of the past. Set the year he escaped Azkaban, and inspired by Coldplay's amazing song, Viva La Vida.

What started out as an evening of fun and games quickly turns into one of the most defining nights in the lives of James, Sirius, and Peter. It's the night when they know for sure that something's off about Remus. All three boys make a promise that no matter what it takes, they will find out Remus's secret, and they'll help him get through it, always remaining by his side.

"I can't do this, Remus!" Sirius howled. "I can't stand doing nothing! I can't take it! And I can't lose Harry too!" Hours after he sees the boggart pretending to be Harry's body, Sirius vents his emotions to the only friend he has left.

If an onloker was to gaze at the scene, they would see five best friends and an adorable baby boy spending a pleasant evening together. But what they wouldn't know was the thick, awful tension beneath the surface, because it tried to remain hidden. Lily, baby Harry, and the Marauders share one last night before Halloween 1981.

"He really is a hero, isn't he?" Hermione's voice trembled as she gazed upon Harry's sleeping face. "He is a braver person than many adult witches and wizards," Dumbledore replied softly. What were Ron and Hermione thinking and feeling during the three days that Harry was unconscious at the end of book 1? Canon, happy ending!

AU. At their first-year leaving feast, Ron and Hermione's hearts unite in sadness as they toast to the bravery of their fallen best friend. Later, they sit by the lake, simply reflecting on the boy he was, and they make a promise that they'll always remember him as much, much more than just a legend with a scar.

AU. No matter how many potions Poppy forced into Harry, it was clear that the night's events had been too much on his body. "I'm so sorry," Dumbledore whispered, his heart breaking as he watched the eleven-year-old boy he so deeply cared about slip through his fingers. "I tried to protect you, and I failed."

AU. Sirius Black's hands were trembling as he held the newspaper to his face. His skin drained of the little color it had left as he read the headline. HARRY POTTER, BOY-WHO-LIVED, DIES IN HEROIC STRUGGLE TO SAVE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE, it proclaimed. And at that moment, the spark that had stayed alive within him for the past eleven years flickered and went out.

Originally entitled "Angel". AU. Memories came swarming over Hermione, memories of a boy who had screamed at both her and Ron only yesterday that going down there to save the Philosopher's Stone was the right thing to do. "No, it wasn't," she sobbed as she held his cold hand, laying her head on his chest. "Nothing was worth the price of your life, Harry. Nothing."

His father howled. His mother held his hand tenderly as though love could bring him back. Harry wept. Cho screamed. His housemates and friends held each other and cried or stared at his body in numb disbelief. As they united in grief, little did they know that he was looking on, wishing they knew that he wasn't far away. And he never would be.

"No! No! No! You've got the wrong man! Get your filthy hands off him!" James screamed as he threw his body at the fence which separated him from the mortal world, Lily sobbing hysterically beside him. This was unbearable, not being able to do anything as they witnessed Sirius Black being dragged off to a place worse than Hell itself.

"You may not think so," he whispered into the dark, empty room, "But I do have feelings." After Penelope Clearwater's petrification, Percy Weasley lies awake and thinks about his family. They may not think their constant teasing and heckling hurts him, but Merlin, it does.

Harry never really remembered what happened to him during the time he was unconscious and close to death in the Philosopher's Stone, but sometimes, at night, he would have dreams of being held and loved, wrapped up in his parents' tender arms. Little did he know that this was because it had actually happened.

Repost. How could you do this, Albus? Severus thought bitterly. Since it's your fault, it should be your job to go to the common room tonight and talk to a group of disheartened Slytherins who think they're worth nothing in your eyes. Snape's reaction to Dumbledore's announcement at Harry's first-year leaving feast.

"He's at Hogwarts," Sirius whispered to the cold, barren cell. For the first time in twelve years, he felt truly alive. His hands clenched into fists, energy pounded through his veins, and his eyes adopted a manic gleam. "He's at Hogwarts."

Why in Merlin's name is Peter Pettigrew walking around on the Marauder's Map, when Sirius Black killed him twelve years ago? On the night of June 6, 1994, Remus's world turns upside down as he realizes what he's believed for the past dozen years has been an outright lie.

"We were friends for so long, Sev," Lily whispered, tears streaming from her beautiful emerald eyes. "Be the man I know you can be. I know you have a heart in you." Lily and Severus meet one last time before they leave Hogwarts in their seventh year.

AU. As Nymphadora Tonks sits in a pew at Remus Lupin's funeral, she can't believe she's a widow. After all she did to convince him that he deserved to be loved, and he'd finally accepted it, they were ripped apart. But she vows to herself that she will do all she can to take care of their beautiful infant son Teddy, and make her husband proud.

AU. Everything I touch, I destroy, Remus muses as he sits in a pew at Nymphadora Tonks's funeral. As he gazes at Teddy, who is being held in Andromeda's arms, he doesn't know if he can take care of him, because he'll only destroy him, too.

On her first full day back at Hogwarts, what did Cho think of her first class with Professor Umbridge? How did it feel to get back into the swing of things, to experience Hogwarts again, and all the painful memories it brought? Out of everything that was going on, she dearly wishes she didn't have to deal with this Defense teacher.

What was Cho's trip back to Hogwarts at the start of her sixth year like? How did her friends treat her after her devastating summer? And what is her opinion of Professor Umbridge and the speech she makes at the Welcoming Feast? All in all, it's not looking like a promising start.

"I'm here, Harry. It's okay to cry." Ginny holds Harry after the final battle, and they both let out all their pent-up emotions from the past year. After such a long, horrifying, strenuous journey, they're finally together again.

What if George had been beside Fred during the fighting in the final battle? And what if, after the wall collapsed, Fred stayed alive for about a minute to have a last conversation with his twin? "I love you, Georgie," Fred whispered as he felt the last of his energy ebbing away. "We'll always be together."

Severus Snape surmised that his life was full of nothing but betrayal. All this time, he thought he'd been keeping Potter alive for Lily, but all along, the boy was being set up to die.

As Sirius sits in Hagrid's pumpkin patch the night of the third task of the Triwizard Tournament, the feeling in the pit of his stomach tells him that something is going to go horribly wrong. Later, when he finds out the truth, his only wish is to take Harry away from all this, to a place where no one or nothing will ever hurt him again.

What if the Dursleys had conditioned Harry in such a way that his reaction to Hagrid's arrival to the hut on the rock was completely unexpected? "I know, popkin," Aunt Petunia crooned as she took the hysterical boy into her arms. "We'll get it out of you. I promise."

They thought that he would always be their hero. They thought that he would rise up and save them all. But they forgot that this was real life, and real life is no fairytale. And in real life, good doesn't always triumph over evil.

"I just don't want to let them go, Albus," Minerva whispered. "They're only children, and times are so dangerous. I wish we could keep them under Hogwarts' protection forever." McGonagall and Dumbledore have a chat over the class of 1978.

Hours after Fred's funeral ceremony and burial, Harry is tossing and turning in bed, lost in guilt-stricken thoughts. He heads down to the Burrow's kitchen, only to be comforted by the last person he would ever expect to even look at him again. George Weasley.

She crouches down by his grave, running her eyes over his name again and again. "I wanted to come here today because ... because I have to tell you something," she says softly. "I'm getting married, Cedric. At first, I worried that it would be an insult to your memory to be happy again, but then I remembered how you always wanted the best for me. As Harry stares into the Mirror of Erised, Lily and James look on from the afterlife, tears in their eyes and pain in their hearts. "I'm sorry we had to leave you, sweetheart, but I hope you know we love you," Lily whispers.

AU. His emerald eyes were full of anguish as the casket was lowered into the ground. "It wasn't your fault," whispered Arthur Weasley as he hugged the boy who had loved his daughter, and who she had loved in return.

AU. Harry watched in horror as the green light illuminated Ginny, and then, she fell like an angel, her red hair a halo around her face. He stood there for a moment, unable to take it in, and then he was running to her side.

The days keep dragging on, and the constant ticking of that damn clock on the wwall reminds him that until Peter is captured, until he is freed, he will always feel this way: completely, totally, and utterly useless. Sirius, during OotP.

Ginny's thoughts and feelings during the year Harry is on the run. Every night she is assaulted by nightmares of his lifeless emerald eyes, wide open and empty, his body lying limply upon the ground. She desperately wants that to not become a reality.

Cho and Cedric's last tender conversation before Cedric goes into the maze for the third task. Little do they know that these are the last moments they will ever share.

Andromeda Tonks's feelings on Remus lupin, post-Deathly Hallows. She feels a corrosive hatred bloom inside her heart whenever she thinks of him, for he let her precious Dora get killed. And for that, she will never forgive him.
